OTHER APPLICATIONS

Due to its properties, especially the small sample volume and dimensions, mobox is also suitable for many other applications, some of which are presented here as examples.

NEONATOLOGY

Today, every ninth child worldwide is born prematurely. Premature babies are born before the 38th week of pregnancy and can survive with a body weight of less than 500 grams. When children weigh so little, every blood sample is a burden for the infant. mobox requires less than half the sample volume of conventional ABG devices. This simplifies blood sampling considerably and reduces blood loss in premature babies.

DOCTORS’ OFFICES

Pulmonologists and general practitioners must regularly carry out blood gas analyses. In pulmonology, pCO2, pO2 and pH are important parameters for the diagnosis of diseases such as COPD or bronchial asthma. A compact, easy-to-use blood gas analyzer enables pulmonologists and general practitioners to take reliable measurements and start optimal treatment earlier. Until now, doctors’ surgeries have often not had the necessary devices because they are expensive to purchase and operate and the consumables have a limited shelf life.

DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

Available blood gas analyzers are sensitive to temperature fluctuations and require measuring cassettes that only have a storage time of a few months and sometimes need to be kept refrigerated. mobox has low storage requirements for the test material and provides stable measured values over a wide temperature range. It is easy to use and therefore ideal for less trained medical personnel.
